Sojourner in the White House

In 1827, Sojourner Truth walked out of slavery and, through a series of unlikely events, became a leading figure in the causes of abolition and women’s rights. In 1864, she met with President Lincoln. Using historical sources and original narratives, this short play, Sojourner in the White House, presents that meeting and flashes back to other crucial moments in the life of a woman who impacted our past and our present.
